Residential property prices in London have appreciated by an average of £103,323 from £331,711 in 2010 to £435,034 under the Conservative-led coalition, but prices throughout the rest of England and Wales have only increased 0.16 per cent, or £217.38, on average, according to research from price comparison site Gocompare.

Property prices increased in just five of the nine regions of England and Wales over the four-year period, reflecting the widening north-south divide, as the North West, North East, Wales and Yorks& Humber regions all experienced property price declines.
